Question

What happened to my vehicle registration fee?

I'm in the Deductions & Credits review. It is showing me 2023 and comparing it to the income taxes I'm working on for 2024. It shows $0 for vehicle registration fee. I KNOW I entered that. So, what happened to it? Why is it missing?

It depends. Is it possible that you entered it in another location, such as Personal Property Taxes?

Also, the deductible amount of vehicle registration fees varies by state. See this TurboTax tips article for more information.

If you are using TurboTax Online, you can preview your return before filing to find out how your taxes were calculated and where your entries appear. See here for details.

I have the same problem as person above.  I put my vehicle registration fee in the CORRECT place, and it does not show up under deductions and credits.  Something is wrong with the TurboTax software - though I doubt they will acknowledge this.

Are you using the Standard Deduction or Itemized Deductions? If you are not itemizing deductions, this amount would be irrelevant.

I have the same issue.  Even though I used the standard deduction in 2023 and 2024, the summary shows the reg amount for 2023 and $0 for 2024.  I know it's irrelevant, but why is it doing this?

I'm having this same issue. I have my vehicle registration amount entered in the itemized section, and it shows up right next to last year's amount. However, when I go to the summary, it shows the amount from last year but shows $0 for this year. I even go back to the itemized section, and it still shows the correct amount.

I know that it doesn't make much of a difference, but it's very frustrating!
