What if Didn't file but received the stimulus checks?

Many people who receive Social Security, SSI, or veteran's benefits received the stimulus checks automatically even if they did not file tax returns.   The stimulus checks were issued for 2020 and in 2021.  There are no federal stimulus checks for tax year 2022.  Why are you asking now about stimulus checks?

Are you now preparing returns for 2020 or 2021?   When it asks if you received the stimulus checks you must answer that you received them if you did.  The IRS has records of who received those checks so if you answer incorrectly the IRS will remove the recovery rebate credit from your refund.
