What is going on with the 2024 Import option in Turbo Tax ?

Is there something going on with the way Turbo Tax imports documents in this year software  ?

Is there a bug that needs to be fixed ?

I have imported my documents from Fidelity -- it says the documents have been imported successfully.  But at every section 1099-Div, 1099-MISC etc etc ---- it shows my accounts but none of the numbers are there, and it says "Needs Review" which then just makes me import them again -- and the process goes round and round in circles ?

My recommendation  i.e., what I did --- is when Turbo Tax asks do you Still have Charles Schwab Act 1, 2,3,4 etc and you re supposed to select Yes or No ---- juts say NO to all of them --- and then in the next step IMPORT everything as if is brand new ........ I am not sure what Turbo Tax did but they made it very very confusing.

You can enter your Form 1099 (MISC, DIV, INT) manually into TurboTax. ‌If your imported forms have errors, you can delete them and enter them manually.

The instructions below are for a Form 1099-DIV, but they will also work the same for a Form 1099-INT, 1099-B,

To delete Form 1099-DIV, you can do the following:

    1. Open/continue your return
    2. Click on "Search
    3. And in the search bar type"1099-DIV"
    4. Select "Jump to 1099-DIV"
    5. It'll take you to a screen that shows your Form(s) 1099-DIV that you have entered.
    6. Next to the Form 1099-DIV you want to delete, click on the (down-Facing) caret
    7. Click on the "garbage can" to delete this form

You can enter your Form(s) 1099-DIV information using the steps below:

    1. Open your return
    2. In the search Bar enter Form 1099-DIV
    3. Select "Jump to 1099-DIV"
    4. It will ask, "Did you have investment income in 2024?" Select "Yes"
    5. Select "Continue"
    6. Select "Skip Import"
    7. You will Select your investment type which is "Dividend"
    8. You will "Continue"
    9. Then you will see the screen "Let's get the info from your 1099-DIV"
    10. You will type in the information from your Form 1099-DIV on that page

Linda,  Thanks but I figured it out --- I still feel it is something that Turbo Tax should fix.  Let me try to summarize.

You know how when you start your taxes it asks:

Do you still have Act 1, act 2 ... Act N and there is a Yes or no next to them --- well they should just get rid of that --- because what happens is if t=you say yes and then Import the info from you Brokerage --- you get the new information and then it list the same accounts that you said YS to again.  It's very confusing.  they should just do away with asking and start from scratch. IMO !!!

    Thanks Gerry

I'm having the same issue with trying to import a 1099 composite from Schwab. TurboTax has handled this fine in previous years but this year it is showing me those same individual windows for 1099-INT, DIV, B and the same flag that says "Needs Review".  What the heck is going on here? Is it doing it right and I just cannot tell, or is something messed up with the import function for 2024?

I will try that, thanks.  This sounds vaguely familiar somehow...maybe I had to do it sometime in a prior year after I had already entered the Schwab 1099 info and then they sent a corrected one.

    Thanks a bunch!
