What is the difference between box 3 and box 4? Are these numbers supposed to be different?

I do not have a w2, I am working off of my last pay stub and this is so confusing.

Hint: does your final paystub have Year-To-Date totals listed?

You cannot use your pay stub to file your tax return. You have to get your W-2 from your employer.

Yes there is a big difference in box 3 & 4.  You can not figure out box 3 from your paystubs.  There can be several pretax deductions that may affect it.  You really need the actual W2 from the employer.  They had to give you the W2 by Jan 31.  You need to ask the employer for another copy.
