Question

What is the status of filing Form 8615? Due to changes in Dec. 2019, the deadline to filing keeps getting changed. First TT said it would be ready on 2/4-now it's 2/26?

TurboTax depends on the IRS to send the updated forms. The IRS also does not have all of the forms finalized and ready for filing yet. Please read the TurboTax FAQ below for IRS Forms Availability Table for TurboTax Individual (Personal) Tax Products. Similarly, you may have state forms that have not been finalized.

It has now been updated to a 3/5/20 availability date. I know it's not available, but my question is WHY when the IRS released the updated form and instructions in early February. Is Turbotax currently working on coding its software to account for these changes and if so, is the 3/5/20 firm or will it continue to get pushed back?

The form is available if you need to download it and complete it on your own. But it is different for e-filing.

The IRS has to finalize and approve the form for e-filing before the form is available on TurboTax. Please note that dates are not controlled by TurboTax.
