A refund transfer is a way to pay the TurboTax fees out of your federal refund, rather than paying them upfront before you file. There is an extra $39.99 Refund Processing Service charge ($44.99 in California) for that. It is optional. You can avoid the extra charge by paying the TurboTax fees upfront with a credit card.
