What should I do if I received a second W-2 form from my employer with a different company address and different wage information? Like my yearly income was divided in 2

So I received a second W-2 today from my employer. It has an updated company address, but the information is also different. After taking a closer look at the first W-2 form, which I've already filed, it seems they've divided my yearly income between the two forms. My employer made it clear that we have to file both, but I had already filed the first one. So, now what? Do I do an amendment, and if so, how? Or do I try to file this one separately, which I'm also no sure how to go about doing after already filing the first one. Will I be audited because of all of this? Are there penalties associated with this situation?

You can't file the second W-2 separately. There is no penalty if you amend your return and add the second w-2.

To add the W-2 when amending:.

  • Select Federal Taxes
  • Click on Income and Expenses Or wages and Income
  • Select Add a new W-2 on the W-2 Summary.

How do I add another form (like a W-2) or add/change/update something after I already filed?
