Question

What so I do if the reason my return keeps getting rejected is because of my social and last name being wrong. When it is the right name and social?

I dont want to have to file by mail or have to wait weeks for irs to confirm the name is correct. Unfortunately I filed late and have few days to complete it. I've never had this problem. What can I do to fix this? Should I redo the tax return?

When you get a rejection for a Social Security number and you have double checked to make sure you entered it all correctly, then the only way you can file is by mail.   You cannot overcome a SSN rejection.   The IRS will sort out the SSN mismatch.   Either someone else used the same SSN by mistake or even on purpose, but once your SSN is in the system no other return using your SSN can be e-filed.  Sorry.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
