You will not receive all available tax credits if you do not answer all the questions about your children.

Certain tax credits, such as the Child Tax Credit, now require you to provide your child's SSN. 

You can still file your tax return, but your refund may not be as great and your tax due may increase. 

If you know you will not qualify for the credits, there will be no difference.
