When a 1040 is rejected for not filing form 8962 -- what to do?

The Turbo Tax help is not very helpful -- when a return is rejected for not including form 8962.  The explanation from Turbo Tax should say -- "Please enter form 1095-A this will create form 8962 which will help resolve the rejection."  This is a rejection issue that Turbo tax cannot check for because of the complexity of the Affordable Care Act (Obama Care).  The IRS knows if this form is required, but there is no way for Turbo Tax to check for This requirement.

The rejection error message should include that foam 1095-A is the item to enter.

When you get this rejection it means you, or someone in the family, had marketplace insurance and received the Advance Premium Tax Credit. You should check with Healthcare.gov, or the state exchange where you get your health insurance to get a Form 1095-A.

Once you have the form, this is how to enter it:

    1. Select Federal.
    2. Select Deductions and Credits toward the top center.
    3. Scroll down or expand the list to find Medical.
    4. Under Medical, look for Affordable Care Act (Form 1095-A).
    5. Select Edit/ Add to the right.
    6. Answer the questions to add the information from your 1095-A.
    7. After the section is complete, click on Federal Review in the upper right corner.
    8. Watch for Continue to File in the lower right corner.
    9. Keep going until you resubmit your return.
