When answering the question, "how many months did my child live with me", can I claim those months she was at college?

Yes, if the child would have lived with you if not at school.

 

Normally, college is considered a temporary absence and the child can be considered to live with the parent where they would have lived.  In some cases, a child might establish a permanent residency away from home so that they are no longer "temporarily" absent from their parent's home, in which case the parent can't say the child lived with them.  There are no black letter rules here, it depends on individual facts and circumstances.
