Question

When checking if state return is taxable, it asks if you itemized or took standard deduction. Do they mean for Fed or for State Return? Can you itemize 1 & not the other?

It appears to me, that I used the Standard Deduction for Fed, and Itemized for my State. But, the TurboTax Wizard says I didn't submit a Schedule A, so I used standard -- so is this question about how I filed for Fed?

Looks like the next wizard answered this for me... Since it asks me to verify data on Line 5, of Schedule A, for my Federal Return... Which I don't have, cause I took the standard deduction for Federal. So, poorly worded question from Turbo Tax I guess. When a user uses the feature, "I don't know what I did", and it returns that it didn't "...detect Schedule A on your 2019 return"...it should actually say, "on your 2019 Federal Return". And, I might not have needed the "I don't know what I did" wizard, if the original question was, "Did you take the standard deduction last year on you Federal Return, or did you itemize deductions?"
