Question

When I review my federal return it is asking me to amortize cost and to input the date incurred. How do I unelect? My start-up cost doesn't exceed 5000

The best way to get past this is to delete the existing start-up expenses from your Schedule C.

Then reenter them as Other miscellaneous expenses with the Description Start-up costs.

As long as they are under $5000 you can deduct them this way.
