Question

When will Form 2210 be updated for 2020. IRS posted on 2/9/2020, but turbo Tax is requiring box checked to allow IRS to calculate the penalty or check back in early Feb.

Underpayment penalty calculated in the Other Situations section is removed when box is checked.  I prefer to pay the penalty now.

TurboTax is expecting to be able to release the 2210 for paper printing and for e-filing on 2/25/2021.

 

If you wish to file your return before that, then IRS will have to calculate your penalty for you.

 

If you wait until after the 2210 is released for TurboTax and you update your software and complete the 2210 yourself, then you can calculate and pay the penalty now instead of waiting for IRS to bill you.
