When will it allow us to transmit our returns

If you have completed the federal tax return, received all of your W-2's and 1099's and have entered those in the federal section of the program. all of the Form and Schedules included in your return have been finalized, then you can e-file the federal tax return.

For your forms and schedules that have not been finalized, click Review.

You complete your tax return by finishing all 3 Steps in the File section. In Step 3, to e-file your tax return, you must click on the large Orange button labeled "Transmit my returns now".

After completing the File section and e-filing your tax return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first email when your tax return was transmitted and the second email when the tax return has either been accepted or rejected.

Once the tax return has been e-filed it cannot be changed or retrieved.  If any changes are needed then you will have to file an amended tax return and wait 4 months or longer for the IRS to process the amended return.

The IRS will not be accepting any type of 2020 tax return until January 27, 2021.  So there is no reason to rush to file.
