Where can I find how box 6b is calculated

Where can I find how box 6b is calculated?  I see mention of social security worksheet,  where do I find it?

My income consists only of IRA distribution, Pensions, and social security.  I am trying understand why there is such a large increase from 2022 to 2023 in my box 6b   when boxes 4b, 5b, and 6a have not changed much.  I would like to see how 6b was calculated for those two years.

I am using Quicken Basic installed on a Macbook Pro M1

Thanks

IRS form 1040 line 6b reports the taxable amount of Social Security (and equivalent) benefits.

The computation is found on the Social Security Benefits Worksheet.

In TurboTax Online, view the form under Tax Home and prior year tax returns.

In the Desktop versions, view the prior year tax returns.

Your overall income must have increased including your SS.  Up to 85% of Social Security becomes taxable when all your other income plus 1/2 your social security, reaches:

    Married Filing Jointly: $32,000

Single or head of household: $25,000

    Married Filing Separately: 0

To see the Social Security Benefits Calculation Worksheet in Turbo Tax Online version you would have to save your return with all the worksheets to your computer. Or if you are using the Desktop CD/Download Software you can switch to Forms Mode (click Forms in the upper right) and click on SS in the list on the right side.
