Where do I enter state extension payments?

I have federal + 3 states. I filed for extensions and made estimated payments:

  • Federal + NY using TurboTax
  • NJ manually (print and mail)
  • IN got automatic extension with federal

Where do I input extension payments I made in individual states taxes? TurboTax never asks "How much you already paid to this state?" while filing for IN, NY and NJ.

Below screenshot says: "Make sure to go to each state return and enter the extension payment for that state". Okay, where?

I got it.

Even if you have filed an extension on your own or using TurboTax: you need to go to "File an Extension" while doing your State taxes in TurboTax. There it will ask you how much you want to pay -- or -- how much you already paid.

As you have seen ... in the federal section you are asked to lump all the state payments on one line however as you complete each state interview you will be asked to enter the amount  for that specific state individually.  This will happen towards the end of each state interview so watch carefully for it.

On the draft NY return (IT-201), Turbotax is showing a calculated amount as my state extension payment on Line 75 rather than the amount that I actually paid (which was higher).  How do I fix this?
