Where do I find the number of exemptions claimed on spouse's return? Is it the same as deductions or is it the number with deductions subtracted?
We are married filing separately and itemizing. This is on form NY IT-201
You find the number of dependent exemptions on line 36 on NY Form IT-201. Each dependent exemption is $1000 automatically calculated based on the number of dependents entered. The standard deduction for Married Filing Separate is $8000. The standard deduction or itemized deduction is on line 34.
