Are you filing by mail instead of e-filing?  If you e-filed you do not mail anything.

 

If you chose to file by mail it will print out with mailing instructions and the addresses to send the returns to.  Federal and state go to separate addresses.

 

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

 

Wait about 4 weeks after mailing and you can check the status of your refund:

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 20 of your Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:
