If you have a 6 digit PIN issued to you by the IRS you need to enter it in order to e-file.

Go to Federal>Other Tax Situations>Other Return Info>Identity Protection PIN and enter the six-digit PIN.

Every year Turbo Tax makes it extremely frustrating to put in my IRS, IP Pin number!

Why is it that Turbo Tax makes it so hard to put that pin in? My ID was stolen and Turbo Tax has never made it a simple task to input that pin.

Do you not care to make it easier? I try follow the instructions but it seems to me you have not given any concern what so ever to make it simple! Surely you do know that we have to file our taxes every year!

Turbo Tax has continued to ignore this problem. It is enough to make a preacher cuss, even on a Sunday!!!!

@garydonfussell Entering the six digit IP PIN has been in the same section of the TurboTax program for years.

To enter, edit or delete a 6 digit IP PIN

Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
    Click on Other Tax Situations
Scroll down to Other Return Info
On Identity Protection PIN, click the start button

SO...after pulling my hair out and yelling "WHERE IS THE 'FEDERAL TAX TAB'?!!" at the computer for several minutes, I realized that the content on this thread is product-specific.  For the "Home and Business" desktop version of Turbo Tax, you can find the IP PIN entry field under "Personal>Other Tax Situations."

I've followed the instructions and entered my 6-digit IP PIN as instructed in "Federal taxes/Other Tax situations". However, when I try to e-file, the PIN box is empty and I can't enter my 6-digit PIN either. So I can't efile. Mac desktop version. HELP!!!

If you are posting about the IP PIN read the THREAD above ... it has been hashed out for over two weeks now.  The name of the tab you click on is different in various flavors of TurboTax.

thanks guys for giving the answer to how to put in an ip pin.  turbotax did not make it easy and would take me there to put the number in.  over an hour wasted just to figure this out.  i was not asked while doing the input for filing. this is a MAJOR flaw.  i used hr block to do my son's taxes and was asked to input this.  did not know i had to do this for a dependent and turbo tax did not make this a simple fix as it should be.  will rethink using turbo tax next year.  fix it turbo tax

I see that the question has been answered here, but why did it have to take me 30 minutes to figure out where it was answered? Why doesn't TurboTax just let me enter it in the Federal Information Worksheet!!!!!!😒

For desktop users, that is indeed an option to go into Forms Mode and enter the 6-digit IP Protection PIN directly onto the Federal Information Worksheet.    But even on the Federal Information Worksheet it's not intuitive where to find it.    It's in Part VII, which is oddly the State Filing section, although the IP PIN has nothing to do with state filing.
