Where to enter ssa-1099 amount?

I entered the SSA-1099 amount in Retirement Plans and Social Security.

When I try to submit my Federal return I'm being prompted to enter ssa-1099 amount in the "Wages, Salaries & Tips Worksheet". If I also enter it there my $1300 refund turns into $1500 I owe.

What am I doing wrong?

The Line 9B SSDI is from the "Wages, Salaries & Tips Worksheet".

The important issue is where does it show on your 1040? It should show on Line 6a and possibly 6b. If it does, forget about the worksheet.

Social Security Benefits reported to you on the pink Form SSA-1099 should be entered in TurboTax since they may or may not be taxable depending on your situation.

    1. Open your tax return in TurboTax online.
(To do this, sign in to TurboTax, see your Tax Timeline, and click ‘Take me to my return.’)
    2. Using the Search feature in the upper right corner of the screen, enter SSA-1099 and perform the search. Then click on Jump to SSA-1099, which is the first item in the search results.
    3. Select Yes, let's work on Social Security benefits and click Continue.
    4. Check the first box, Form SSA-1099.
    5. Enter the amounts for yourself and your jointly-filing spouse, if they received an SSA-1099 also.
      • SSA-1099s for children and other dependents are not reported on your return. They should report it on their own return, but only if they're required to file a return for some other reason (this is uncommon).
    6. Click Continue

TurboTax will automatically calculate what portion, if any, of your Social Security benefits are taxable.

I followed the steps you suggested. During the Smart Check I am still being directed to the Wages, Salaries & Tips Worksheet:  Line 9B "SSDI" is requiring an entry.

Do I enter the SSA-1099 Box 5 amount in two places?

In TurboTax Online, you report the SSA-1099 box 5 amount in the box called Box 5 - Net Benefits for 2020.

I do not see a line 9B "SSCI" on the SSA-1099.  Do you have another form?
