Why am I being charged a fee for my state taxes when I have to mail them and turbo tax didn't file them for me?

Turbo tax did my federal return but not my state it said that e file wasn't accepted so i have to mail them out. Why am I being charged for my state taxes?

For the "Online" software states....there is a software fee that is charged irrespective of whether you e-file the state, or mail-file the state.

 

You "might" still be able to e-file the state later this month, depending on the reason for not being able to e-file it now....a few states have the paper mail-in forms ready a week or two before the e-file is allowed.  A few states can e-file some forms now, but need extra forms/schedules that are not ready for a week or two and could be e-filed later.
