Question

Why am I being told I cannot e-file because Form 8283 requires a donee signature and this is not supported by TurboTax for e-file? Database says 8283 is ready for e-file.

Upon final review, while attempting to e-file, I get a message indicating Form 8283 requires a donee signature, but TurboTax does not support electronic filing of this form. This has never been an issue in the past and I have used TurboTax for over 15 years. I checked the forms database and is says Form 8283 is ready for e-file, but I still get this message. Can you please advise if this is going to be rectified, and if so, when?

Since your return is being rejected with a message saying "You have an entry on Form 8283, Donee Acknowledgement which required a donee's signature, electronic attachment is not supported," you will need to print out and mail your tax return.

The taxing agency has implemented new standards for 2024 tax returns that essentially says if Form 8382 has a noncash donation where the donee is listed, then the form must be signed.

Please follow the steps here to print and file your tax return.

Other posts say the form wasn’t ready in turbo tax now Turbo tax is saying it has to be hand signed no matter what? Why is there a discrepancy?
