Why can’t I claim my new born child?
I’m trying to file my taxes for 2018 but my son was born this year 2019
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but in order for the child to be a dependent on your 2018 tax return (the one we are all filing now), he would have had to have been born on or before 12/31/18.
You will be able to claim a child born in 2019 when you file your 2019 tax return at the beginning of 2020.
