We in community don't have access to you tax return and without looking at your return it would be impossible to know why your state refund is $13. However, there are many reasons why your refund might be lower this year, such as: Your Income increased. You had a second job. You did not have enough taxes withheld during the year. You changed your Filing Status. Number of dependents claimed this year.Make sure you entered all you forms and information and check that the amount you entered for state income tax withheld on your W-2 box 17 is correct.I recommend that you print a copy of last year's return and make a line by line comparison with this year's return.
