Why did I receive a CD 2020 version? I order the CD 2021 version.

No one is preparing a 2021 tax return yet.  The software for 2021 tax returns will be released sometime in November, and the IRS will begin to accept 2021 returns sometime in late January/February of 2022.

 

The current software is for tax year 2020 which ended on December 31, 2020.  You can still e-file a 2020 return until October 15, 2021.   After that your 2020 return will have to be filed by mail.

    you'll have to apply for a refund on that CD and mail it back to Intuit.

    The 2021 CD is not offered for sale yet.
