Question

Why did it say I'm getting only $3.00 Fed refund?

Sorry for this question but last year when I asked my friend to use TB Intuit, I got $961.00 , and $300 of that was about my State refund.

I claim myself Single. Was it something I did on my employers tax form how to take out or something? You know, that 00 or 01 thing?

I went back and looked over the W2 many times, uploaded the PDF several times to just plugging in the numbers directly. Still says I will be refunded only $3.00.

Sorry that's just not enough to even spit at. What can I do?

the w-4 is designed so that properly filled out there is enough withholding to break about even at filing time. Getting a large refund means you made an interest-free loan to the IRS for most of the year. if you want a larger refund, file a new w-4 for 2025. then on line 4c enter a number. Note that this is per pay period so if you put down $10 and get paid weekly an extra $520 will be withheld for the year.  the same is true for the state

Um, thanks mike. Hehe. Does that mean I should wait the result of my W2 filed income tax, or, am I SOL ?

So, Also do not know if this makes a difference, but the form in Intuit shown my Fed Tax withheld and another field I didn't understand showing same but with a negative symbol in front.

    (e.g.)

    $2500.00

-$2500.00 (well slightly less, take away the $3.00 so $2497 = ruff example)

you can file a new w-4 for 2025 at any time. take into account that there are only 11 months left in the year so fewer pay periods

we can't see your tax forms or w-2 or know anything about your tax situation.

there may be things you can do to increase your refund like making a retirement a/c contribution or putting money into an HSA if you qualify or possibly other things. However, all these things will cost you more than the increase in your refund.

the $2500 was probably your withholding from your w-2.

$2497 was probably your tax liability resulting in the $3 refund.
