Why did my cost go get a $40 added to it when I tried to have it deducted for my return that I thought it could have been deducted from my state refund??????

Pay With My Refund can only deduct your TurboTax fees from your federal refund. You can use Pay With My Refund to pay your TurboTax state fees – you just can't deduct any TurboTax fees from your state refund.

You can view a breakdown of your TurboTax charges by signing in to your online return. Once you have signed in and selected to continue your return, select Tools from the My Account drop-down list in the upper right corner. In the pop-up window, select My Fees to get a breakdown of your TurboTax charges.
