Why do i have to pay back my full tax credit when i was only married 1 out of 12 months?

it seems to be using both income for all 12 months

There is no pro-rating marriage.  If you were married as of 12/31/20, you are considered married for the entire year for tax purposes.   Even if you got married on New Year's Eve, for tax purposes you are considered married all 12 months of the year.   And when you file a joint tax return, all of your incomes for the entire year is combined.
