If your not aware of a foreign account, and it is showing up on TurboTax, there may be a good reason.

Some examples of documents with foreign investments included.

  • 1099-DIV see boxes 7&8
  • Or listed on a K-1
  • You may have had a carry over from a previous year.

You can go to the input page for foreign accounts and see what is there

Go to the main menu.

  1. Select Tax Tools
  2. On the drop-down select Tools
  3. There will be 4 green boxes
  4. Select Topics Search
  5. Type 8938
  6. Continue through the questions.
