Why does my filing status say single if I have a dependent and qualify for dependent credit

I filed with turbo tax with a dependent who was not a child. I received the dependent tax credit but when I looked at the filing status that was checked at the top, the box checked was the "single" box rather than the "head of household" box. But my tax return through turbo tax said it was filing as head of household. Why is this?

You have not mentioned who the dependent is .  If the dependent you claimed is a GF or BF, for example, they are not a qualified dependent for HOH filing status.   The dependent needs to be someone who is related to you.

Am I Head of Household?

If you qualify as Head of Household, when you enter your marital status (single or married filing separately) into MyInfo, and then enter your qualifying dependent, TurboTax will offer HOH as your filing status.

If you are not blood related to the dependent on your tax return you cannot have Head of Household filing status.  If you are not married then you have to file as Single.
