Question

Why does my printed Federal tax form to mail show on line 34 and 35a, a return amount of $6,200, but the Intuit on-line Welcome page states $8,543.00

It could be adding a state refund and showing both combined.

Line 34, 35a of your federal income tax return 1040  is your refund amount. I am not sure why your welcome page would display a different amount. Is it showing your refund as $8543?  Did you go out and back in? It may be that your refund amount had not yet been adjusted for something you entered. Sometimes there's a delay. Or as VolvoGirl mentions above, it may be a combination of your state and federal refunds.  Have you tried adding them together to see if that is the amount?

Linda:

Thank you for the response.

I went back and checked everything and used the review function again.   No issues found.  Printed form to mail lists Federal refund return as $6,200.00.  State refund as $0.00.

Online web page still showing.

Federal $8,543 Ready to mail 01/30/2025
State IL $0 due Ready to mail 01/30/2025

Sometimes a piece of data will get stuck. If your forms are correct, they are good to mail. If you want to do some troubleshooting:

Online version:

  1. Delete the form/ worksheet- if possible, see How to Delete
  2. Log out of your return and try one or more of the following:
    • Don't use Internet Explorer.
    • Clear cache and cookies,
    • Sign in using a different browser.
    • Sign in using a different device.
  3. Log back into your return.
    • Enter the information again.

Desktop version:

  1. Delete the form
  2. Save your return while closing the program.
  3. Update the program
  4. Open
  5. Enter the information again.
