Why does screen ask "Did your child under 24 earn any income?" when filing as single student no dependents?

Are you a dependent on someone else's tax return?

It shouldn't be asking about a child if there are none on your return.

Go back to the My Info Section, Scroll all the way, and make sure you are the only one listed there. Check what is entered, including marital and filing status, etc.

Go to the Deductions & Credits section of the Federal return and Review the sections you have already visited. Pay close attention to the questions, especially in the Expenses and Scholarships Section if you had educational expenses.
