Why does the Refund Advance Temporary Card not work?

I have already contacted the customer service number for Green Dot, they could not tell me what was wrong or when it would be fixed. 

My return was accepted by the IRS, the $2,000 advance is in the account.

Every time I try to use the temporary card assigned that you are told can be used for online purchases it does not work. It does not work with any merchants across multiple platforms. 

What is the point of getting an advance within 1 hour* of IRS acceptance if you cannot access the money? Why should I have to wait 5-10 business days?! That is not an advance at all and will take the same amount of time if I just waited for the IRS to deposit in to my bank account.

 

This is shady, scammy, and unethical.

 

If this is not promptly resolved I will never use Turbo Tax again, I have used it for many years, and use it to file my family members for them as well. This is absurd.

    Pull up Google Play add your credit karma virtual card number or account number whichever it asks for and then the Google Play account routing number you add over to your credit karma it will let you pull $500 a week over to your Google Pay account and then you have to take whatever cards you have NetSpend Green Dot whichever it is and you apply the Google pay number onto that that'NetSpend  card then you can spend the money because what's ever on Google pay will be sent over to your NetSpend or you can add money actually to your NetSpend from your Google pay it took me forever to figure it out but it can be done

    I am having the same issue. When I called the customer service phone number I was told just to be patient. It will work in an hour or so. It's been 3 hours since that call. Nothing.

    Open a Google pay account attach your virtual card information to the Google pay then you go over to your virtual card and put your Google pay account information there then you go back to Google pay and you can add money to your Google pay up to $500 a week from your virtual account in order to spend the money you'll have to go into your NetSpend card or whatever card you have and add your Google pay information on that account information card and then you can add money to your NetSpend from your Google pay it took me forever to figure it out but it can't be done up to 500 a week until you get your credit karma card

    Same here. Phone support has had me on hold for over 25 minutes each time i called today. And each time they said to wait an hour. Its been 7 hours since my first call and they have given me no answers

    The answer is going to Google pay and attaching your NetSpend card to your Google pay or your Green Dot card whichever one you want to text you Google pay in order to add money from your credit karma on Tuesday the Google pay account you'll have to put your virtual account information on your Google pay account and from there you can add money to it go to your virtual account and add your Google pay information so that it will allow you to pull money onto Google pay again it only let you do 500 a week but it's better than nothing

    I agree, if TurboTax doesn’t at least give us some sort of real update on what the issue is that so many people are having with the temp cards I’ll go somewhere else next year.

    You can also put your virtual account number onto your cash app and add money to your cash app I was able to do that also in addition to add it to your Google pay app and pull it on to your NetSpend card

    I am still having trouble with my temp card.  I called and they said that there specialist were on it.  But they still don't know how long it is going to be.  This is ridiculous.  This is my first time using turbo tax and other than the price I am very unsatisfied.  Can they just give us some solid answers please.

    I called again and now they told me it is expected to be resolved at 12am.

    I doubt this. 
    They told me I am not expected to get my physical card until 02/04/2020. So, a full week. 
    which means this advance is an absolute waste.

    I am completely disappointed and dissatisfied.

    Turbo Tax you should be ashamed.

    Please see this Turbo Tax FAQ regarding your Refund Advance temporary card.

     

    If you received a Refund Advance last year, you’ll need to create a new account to see your Refund Advance funds for this year. You won’t see the funds if you log in with the account you made last year.

    Mine isn’t working either. So I’m guessing this is not working for really anyone then? Please update when anyone has gotten theirs to work please. Thanks.

    You have to go to Google pay and put your virtual card information from credit karma there and then your Google pay information you have to put with your credit karma virtual card that allows you to bring at least $500 a week over to your Google pay card immediately then whatever card you're trying to attach to it so you could actually get the money until you get a credit karma card say it's NetSpend you'll have to put the NetSpend information card or account number whichever it asks for on your Google pay as your pay method and you can transfer your Google pay money over to your NetSpend card and you can go to an ATM or purchase at the counter either one off of that NetSpend card that you pull off of your Google pay money from your virtual account it took me forever to figure it out but that's what I was able to get

    Called them and they said they issued me a new temporary card and they were expedited it should be here in the next 24 hours they said that’s what everybody has to do!! So please hurry so you guys can get your advances this week

    What number did you call? I called yesterday and got told to be patient and an apology for the inconvenience, but this is absurd. I have been using TT for 7 years, and this is the first time I have been really disappointed with the service.

    I called the (888) 285-4169 number and he said they issued me new card numbers and it should be here tomorrow I will keep you guys updated I think y’all should do the same

    IF YOU ARE FILING YOUR TAXES WITH TURBO TAX AND THEY HAVE ADVERTISED THAT YOU CAN RECEIVE PARTIAL OF YOUR REFUND FASTER BY SIGNING UP FOR A TURBO TAX DEBIT CARD & YOU CAN USE YOUR FUNDS RIGHT AWAY WITH THE TEMPORARY DEBIT CARD FOR ONLINE PURCHASES, DO NOT DO IT ! THIS IS MISLEADING INFORMATION! WOULD NOT RECOMMEND YOU USE ! I HAVE SIGNED UP PERSONALLY & THE TEMPORARY DEBIT CARD DOES NOT WORK! I HAVE TRIED CALLING CUSTOMER SERVICE AND IT IS HORRIBLE! THE WAIT TIME IS RIDICULOUS, THE REPRESENTATIVES HANG UP ON YOU , AND NONE OF THE SUPERVISORS ARE AVAILABLE.     Thank you. I had the same problem. I tried to reach out three times, put on hold for no less than nineteen minutes per call only for every call to be dropped before I could even speak to an agent. It would ring to put me through and then drop. I was informed by another user that none of the temporary cards are working and that I needed to reach out to get an emergency card overnighted...which would be cool except for the fact that I can't get through to speak with anyone. 

     

    This was my first time using Turbotax and my last. I will definitely be going back to Taxact next year. They don't offer advances but they offer peace of mind. If I need them, they answer. Not being able to reach people dealing with my money is something I am not comfortable with.

    We called this morning as well. They said we would get an expedited card within 1 day. We will see if we get it. We have been trying to use our temporary card for two days and they said they were working in fixing it. But it would be better to use the card. We also have to call when we receive the card and make sure it's not the old card number so that were activating the right one.
