An employer number does not have letters at the end.  Leave out those letters.

Try just entering the employer's federal ID number instead.

The only truly indispensable elements on a W-2 for income tax filing purposes are your employer's federal EIN (Employer's ID number), your own Social Security Number (SSN), and your actual wage data.

@eeziter   @xmasbaby0

Yes, Utah employer number at box 15 of a W-2 does need to end in WTH.

The issue in prior years seems to be true this year too.

The CASE of the three letters is important (in the software) for some strange reason.

Unfortunately, I can't be sure anymore whether the final letters are supposed to be UPPER CASE (WTH), or lower case (wth) .

So, for whatever tax form the software ics complaining about, where you entered a state line for Utah withholding, check how the number was entered...IF UPPER case, change to lower...if lower, change to UPPER.

(Additonal: you might need to blank-out the ID box, then click your cursor in another box, and come back to the box to re-enter it again....I've seen issues in prior years where a case change doesn't keep until the box is blanked out first.)

_______

And please come back and let us know which worked, so I can get that mentally locked in again.

Re-Looking at a whole lot of posts from last year....seems to indicate lower case "wth" is needed.

.....and no hyphens

Well...did that work with lower case wth  or not?

....make sure you walk thru the UT interview again from start to finish after each change back in the Federal section.

And make sure every form type with withholding on the state line has the UT number put in correctly....multiple W-2 forms, and 1099-R forms are most common..

_______

All else fails, delete the offending form(s) in the Federal area and re-enter them manually
