Why does turbo tax gets my information wrong from the previous years, every year it seems.

    What is changed, and is it the same thing every year?

    .....no easy way for us to tell you that.  Depends on what you see that seems to be different.

     

    BUT

    1) the only thing that looks fishy for mine (20+ years using TTX), is the prior year interest amount.  TTX combines the prior year Tax-exempt $$ in box 12 of the 2023 1099-DIV, with the 2023 1099-INT interest total on the summary page, so that total looks different...and has so for years.   Doesn't affect anything for 2024 though.

     

    2) If using the "Online" Software, you must never go back into your tax file to try stuff out after your original file has been filed and accepted.   ANY Later "test" changes you make get locked in, as if it was the original, unless you move them back to the original values before the tax files get archived in late October/November.
