Why doesn't the amount on 1040 line a match the amount in box 1 on my imported w2?

If the only thing you have is one w2 with nothing other than boxes 1-6 and 15-20, the amount in box 1 should match your 1040 line 1a.

Verify the import is correct and change any numbers that may have imported incorrectly.

 

Look to see what other lines have information, there is something triggering the extra income. For example: If you have dependent care benefits with no dependent, that will be added to your income.
