Why I did not get full $2,000 CTC and only $500. My son was born October 2001. What I've missing.

My son live with me the entire 2018 and a citizen of US. I support him 100% the entire year.

Sorry, your child does not qualify for the CTC because he was 17 before the end of 2018. You lose the child tax credit in the year the child turns 17.

You can still claim him as a depdendent, and you get the $500 credit for other dependents.
