Question

Why is Michigan not letting me e-file yet because Flint doesn't have the CF-COV ready?

I worked from home all year and my work location is home, so I have to file for the taxes my employer paid to the city of Flint. TT is telling me that the form CF-COV for Flint isn't ready yet and won't let me file my state return. That shouldn't have anything to do with the state, right?

No. Although you worked from home, Form CF-COV is required for nonresidents of Flint that have worked from home due to the pandemic and Stay at Home orders. Therefore, you may be eligible for reduced taxation by excluding wages for your time not working in Flint. It is best to file with TurboTax once the form is ready.

I am having this same issue with Grand Rapids.  Grand Rapids has the form on their website so, I know it is available.  I have to mail all of this stuff in anyway.  When will the form be available or, how can I skip it and allow my Michigan State taxes to go through?

It should allow you to print out the Michigan return and mail it in if that is the route you would rather go. If you found the other forms online that you can fill , then mail them in. I would suggest waiting for the updates so you can e-file.
