Why is my final refund amount less than the one showed in the State numbers dropdown?

Adjustments to the return are made throughout the process.  Some change to your state income that was made in the final step?  Something that you entered?  You should review your state tax return before you send it in to make sure that the numbers that are on it make sense.  As long as they do then you're ok.

There is a few reasons why your federal refund will be smaller than your state. One of the most common reasons is that your W-4 form might be incorrectly filled out. The W-4 is the form that you fill out with your employer to have the taxes taken.

Also keep in mind that every year the tax rates and deductions change. Click on the link below to learn more about reasons why your refund might have change

Thank you for your response.

Sorry I didn't mention that the final State refund (not Federal refund) is less than the one showing in State Numbers dropdown.

Any advice please?
