Why is my refund amount much more less than last year's?

Your refund amount may be higher due to changes in your income, changes in your filing status, changes in your deductions, changes in credits your qualify for or other items.

 

You can look at the first page your last year's return and compare it to the first page of this year's return to see what changes occurred.
