Why is my tax file type "Turbo Tax 2018 Document" instead of Tax2018 file"?

    The file type shown in Windows explorer is TurboTax 2018 Document. That's a descriptive label, not the actual file name. The file name extension is .tax2018. You don't see the actual file name extension in Windows Explorer unless you uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types" in the folder options.
