I purchased Turbo Tax Deluxe CD - not sure where or when - likely Amazon or Office Depot.  When I got around to doing my Taxes I was going to be charged 44.95 for a state download.  No thank you.

Careful examination of the CD Jacket and Sleeve revealed no mention of a State download included.

Looks like we will go elsewhere next year after last 8 years with Turbo Tax.

Did you purchase desktop software with state software included?  They sell Deluxe both with and without state software--so you have to be careful which one you choose.  And even if it does have the state software download included, that is for preparing the state.  There is an extra fee to e-file the state.  You can avoid the $24.99 state e-file fee if you print and mail the state instead of e-filing it.

Hard to say, I have used this product for the last four year and know what to look for.  I have previously always purchase the deluxe with state.  I always check multiple sources for the best price which varies widely.

After checking I found the amazon record does not include the State Version but the ad it is linked to now does.   I can't swear what I saw when I purchased from 6 months ago but I think I would have noticed the difference.  I should have looked at it when it arrived.

State taxes are not that big a deal and there are several ways to file for free.  But after continue harassment by the Fed return for more purchases, sometimes to the extent of blocking the next step, I am done with intuit.  Like so many other formerly good corporations, it is no longer a service company and cares only about how much money they can extract from every client regardless of the value provided.

Luckily their files are readable by most competitors so transitioning will not be difficult.
