Lets say I actually received 1k, I enter that amount finish everything. Now the amount shows 2k instead of the 1k I entered.

You should have received a 1099-G.

In TurboTax go to FEDERAL  Income & Expenses

Select Unemployment and paid family leave [REVIEW]

Answer any questions

On the Review your 1099-G info page confirm that the amount is correct

If not, select [REVIEW]

Review BOX 1 and be sure that it was posted correctly

If you had somehow entered it twice, you can remove it by clicking the trash can on the right.

If this does not resolve the issue please renew the post.

You'll report your income from unemployment insurance on your income tax return. That amount will be subject to federal income taxes and state income taxes for some states.

However, there’s a difference: Unemployment benefits aren’t subject to Social Security and Medicare taxes (7.65% total).

So far, TurboTax does not seem to want to admit it.

Since they haven't bothered to fix this problem after four years, I'd recommend switching to H&R block like I did. No problems with duplicate unemployment and I got a refund rather that owing money like turbotax said I did. Also cheaper and way less annoying. I won't be using turbotax again.
