Why is the entry for 2022 Tax Liability prefilled?

in completing AZ state tax form, 2022 Tax Liability is already filled in for me but I don't know where that came from because it's not the amount I paid last year

Your tax liability is not usually the same as the tax due (or what you paid with your return)

Your tax liability is what you are responsible to contribute to the state based on your income. That liability is then adjusted for withholding you already paid and/or credits you are eligible for and the end result is either a refund or balance due.

If you used TurboTax for tax year 2022, that would be carried forward by the TurboTax program.

If you filed Arizona Form 140, your state tax liability would be listed on line 52 of your 2022 AZ Form 140
