Question

Why is turbotax trying to charge me to file? I thought it was free to file yourself

On TurboTax Free Edition it does not charge for the federal return but does charge if you need to file a state return.

 

To see a breakdown of your fees:

  1. Select Tax Tools in the Black bar on the left side of the screen
  2. Select Tools in the drop down menu
  3. Select My Fees in the lower right Blue box at the top of the screen
