Why isn't the direct deposit fee disclosed prior to using TurboTax.

There is not a "direct deposit fee." You do not pay an extra fee to have your refund direct deposited. If you choose to PAY your TurboTax fees from your federal refund there is a refund processing fee of $40 to have the third party bank receive your refund, take out the money owed to TurboTax, and send you the rest.

If you pay for your TurboTax fees upfront with a credit or debit card before you e-file you do not pay for that $40 fee and you can still have your refund direct deposited to your account.
