Why isn't the Turbo Tax allowing me to e-file with my 9 digit EIN? I do not have a 6 digit EIN, that it is requesting?

There is a 6 digit identity protections PIN required by the IRS for those who have encountered identity fraud in past years. Is that what is being asked for?

What's an Identity Protection PIN? The IP PIN is a six-digit number assigned to eligible taxpayers to help prevent the misuse of their Social Security number on fraudulent federal income tax returns. An IP PIN helps the IRS verify a taxpayer's identity and accept their electronic or paper tax return

You should have received a notice from the IRS with that PIN if that is what it is asking for. If you don't have it, you will have to request it from the IRS when they start taking phone calls again.

That's not possible. An EIN is only issued by the IRS and *MUST* be nine digits in the format of XX-XXXXXXX. No exceptions.

Perhaps you're dealing with some kind of state-issued business identification number that's six digits, and you are attempting to enter it in the wrong place? Without knowing what state you're in, that's just a guess.
