Question

Why on the 1099-R is a zero being added to the payers TIN? The return is being rejected for this.

I enter it as it is shown, but every time I go back it has added a zero to the end of the TIN and it has been rejected twice for this reason.

If you are entering the exact number on the form, the zero being added should not cause your return to be rejected. You will need to contact your payer to make sure they sent you the correct TIN, otherwise, you will not be able to e-file.

Please click the IRS link, listed below, to learn how to locate your TIN.
