Why was I already charged for federal tax due?

Turbotax told me that federal taxes owed would not be paid until 4/18 yet they charged me the entire amount on 3/15 (when I filed). The entire point was to file early and then not pay until I had to.

Are you sure it was the Tax Due? It doesn't usually charge you as soon as you file. Was it maybe the Turbo Tax fees?

There is the Intuit charge (INTUIT *TURBOTAX) and then there is the tax charge (US TREAS TAX PYMT) , which technically means the IRS charged me - but, Turbotax gave them the info to charge me as soon as the return was accepted. I am positive that I selected the option to file right away but not pay until 4/17, with the assumption that I would eventually be able to change to the new filing date in May.
